Joe, really dig your way of thinking and op. I would like to hear your op about things like preordained destiny, fate, vs creating your own reality. I mean are some people just fucking lucky or is it the positions they put themselves in through plan. Curious about what you think, being as that you have been around lots of famous people and wannabes as well. I dont really expect you to reply to this, but what the hay. I train in BJJ and Muay thai so major respect from me on your dedication to martial arts. BTW happy birthday, I'll be 49 oct 15th and it's not so bad bro! My space: chainedlightining See ya in florida soon I hope, Rick

I prefer to masturbate in the morning and workout in the evening. Starts the day off right, and I feel accomplished when I get to bed no matter how the day goes.

Anyway LOVED the event, and frankly JOE I think you do a great job with the post interviews. It must take some heart to talk to a guy about a beat down he just took.
But more importantly...what brand shirt were you wearing that night (Black button down with diagonal stripes) It looked amazing, and I'd like to gift it. Been looking all over NYC, but no dice. Can you help a girl out and lay a name on me?

I find that the kindness and free thinking of Europeans come from centuries of being butt to butt with neighboring countries with vast differences in language, food and personalities. If everyone in the US would be forced to take a subway every day for centuries and deal with all the wacky personalities on a daily basis, a shift may occur here as well.

Globalization

If you don’t see it happening, you must be living in a hole somewhere. Even people who recognize globalization as a dynamic force seem to view it as an economic situation. The globalization of markets may be easier to see. Well, what were the people doing when countries were originally able travel by boat to other countries(after a few discoveries?) They were either killing or trading. About five-hundred years later, and we’re still killing and trading. These two aspects of globalization may not be moving quicker, they just had a head start. Killing and trading are pretty easy. Who doesn’t want to test out all those brute skills and weapons on some people because they are different? And obviously trading comes natural, because everyone wants money. All a business takes is a contract and the money can usually be converted quite easily, unlike most things in other spectrums. If they don’t honor the contract, then the killing comes back into play. Thankfully, there are apparent signs of this globalization beyond violence and commerce. Whether the other forms of globalization are successful for all depends on the undertaking of the people. Let ol’ George Bush take care of the killing and hopefully Cheney is a good businessman. In all of our best interests, there is significantly more freedom in the fields the common people can partake in. Language helped. Writing helped. The radio helped. Television helped. Now the internet is settling in. That is what makes it a long road whether it is good or bad. The common person is sharing ideas like never before. (How funny is it to watch some people operate the computer?) Ideas from great thinkers and artists of the past generations are about to become possible. After people start meeting and interacting with others, more understanding will come. (Others does not mean within 10,100, or 1000 miles) How many people in this world think that all other people are as great as themselves? How many people in the United States? We need to realize why people are trailing us in numerous categories that we deem important. It is because we have either physically held them behind or simply not shared what we’ve had. Slavery in the United States lasted until 1865. How many generations of white people lived in a free society before that? Too many to count. I don’t even understand how racism is still a common word. I heard two people arguing not to long ago about this issue during the week honoring the Little Rock Nine. One of them said racism was cured and one said there had been no progress since slavery. I wanted to slap both of them. There will still be racism until everyone forgets what it means. Growing up in a southern all white community can be sickening. Don’t get me wrong, I think it is getting better everywhere, including where I am from. Where it used to be ok to verbally downgrade other races openly, now people just think it and say it under their breath when they get upset. We have entered the politically correct era. They’re trying at least. Bottom line: You are dumb if you think any less of any person because of the color of their skin. Back to the main subject. There are two main directions we can take the globalization of culture. People are going to have to embrace it, because it will soon be unable to deny. We can either pick and chose our favorite things out of the diverse situations we encounter, or we can just continue to follow the leader. You don’t have to look to far to notice most people are their conditioning. It’s very difficult to see through. Either we can move through it and help others along the way, or we can sink back in to the path created around us. People tell us what to think. People tell us what to eat. People tell us how to act. People tell us how to do everything everywhere we go. It doesn’t change with age. You just get new people telling you what to do. Many people seem to have two people guiding them through this life. One side is being driven by the conditioning they’ve had, and one side is being driven by the person they want to create. Then you have people who only have the first person active. They aren’t creating anything new, because they are having a hard enough time living up to the goals that have been laid before them. (The cute house, nice job, and the family…(Just the most common one)) No one can really be blamed for the slow process. You have to search long and hard, respecting many opinions, while taking what substance you actual value. If people can release from what holds them back and embrace what sets them free, globalization should be one hell of a ride.

“For whatever reason some English humor can be an acquired taste to people living in the US (except for Ali G, of course. Respect,) but American stand up just seems to fit right in over there.”

Just out of curiosity, how well does Dane Cook fit in over seas? You also have my sister’s birthday. Congratulations on turning fourty. Big day. If it is not too much trouble I would like to ask: what is the main driving force that keeps you so dedicated to your profession?

I workout first thing in the morning too, but I wake up at 2:30 in the morning and drink a cup of weight gainer so that my body will have the fuel it needs when I get up at 5 AM. I use Up-Your-Mass which I've gotten great results on. The vanilla tastes great in water.

Here's my mornings...

When I wake up at 5 I review the day's schedule, and head off to the gym. My primary concern is to mentally prepare myself for the day ahead. I'm still in high school but I take three AP level college courses and am also studying Aristotelean philosophy in my spare time so that I'm literally studying sixteen hours a day. That shit calls for some serious mental preparation. So I run out of my house, get in my truck, blast some heavy metal, and get pumped for my workout during the ride.
I make my workouts as intense as possible. I lift weights between all-out suicides so that I'm always breathing hard, gasping for air. I focus on my regrets, on the mistakes I made in the past, on my weaknesses, and on the meaninglessness, gluttony, and violence that are destroying people's lives. I do this while I work to exhaustion, as the lactic acid floods my system, and neurochemicals fluctuate in my fucked up mind. After half-an-hour of this physical and mental gauntlet I sit down and stretch. As I stretch I practice mindfulness meditation which neurological research (and my own personal experience) has shown to increase focus and improve memory. When I'm done stretching I drive home, take a shower, and then have breakfast. Today I had two bananas, a kiwi, whey protein, leaf spinach, chopped broccoli, flax seed, and another cup of weight gainer. Some people might call me a "health nut", but I might in turn call those people lazy, jaded, gluttonous slobs that would literally eat horse shit if it tasted good enough. And I know this because the stuff they eat now isn't far from it.

Anyway, you're my fucking hero Rogan! Keep up the good work
